It will come as a surprise to very few that one major problem, maybe even THE problem in this world is the loss of the father. I realized a few days ago that all the kids in our home are completely, for one reason or another, without their father. The boys are left without a true masculine identity and therefore do not know how to be boys and won't know how to be strong men. The girls are left without Dad's strong hand of protection and shoulder of love, so they are insecure in their feminine identity and may look for that love in wrong places. Anyone can be a father, but it takes a real man to be a dad. The children in our care literally have had almost no positive male influence in their entire lives. The darkest hour for Jesus came at a time when He was separated from his father, and that separation was bitter. And so it is with us; when that connection, that bond, is severed it is almost assuredly followed by brokenness and destruction. And that which is broken and destroyed is usually the confidence, the identity, and the hearts of the children left behind. This is but one of many issues that our kids; and millions more; face, but I try daily with the help of God's Spirit to mentor them, to fill their broken hearts with hope and love. And to direct them to the True Father who promised to NEVER leave them or forsake them! Only He can heal the broken hearted, but we are also His vessels of love. Show love today to someone who needs it, and the first recipients of that love should be your spouse and your sons and daughters!!
